Move over Octo Mom, I'm getting Mother of the Year!
Tonight Rhys and I went house hunting...more like I hunted while he kicked the back of my seat and clapped to the blaring music. After an hour or so of checking neighborhoods out I decided to get him a little ice cream for his troubles. We arrived at Baskins but I had to use the potty first so I took him into the ladies rest room and let him run around the area for the moment. I didn't reach him in time as he walked over to the metal trash bin, wrapped his arms around and started licking the finish right off...it was beyond disgusting. I tried to wash his mouth out with soap but he just licked my fingers like this taste wasn't anything new to him (see previous post)..now I definitely deserve "mother of the year". He's going to have the best immune system ever!

punishment
Nanny's tried and true method of punishment is no match for Rhys' uncanny ability to eat anything and everything. He has become a bear to wash b/c he spends every moment desparatly clawing my arms to get to and eat the soap. His particular favorite is LUSHs' Honey Wash but he wouldn't turn down Aveda's Body Soap either. So much for washing his mouth out with soap. We'll have to find the stuff mom used on us b/c I recall that that stuff did not appeal to my taste buds.

1 year checkup and some raw fish
Rhys had his one year checkup today:
34 inches long - 99% for height
23 lbs - 50% for weight
3 shots
I just can't be in the room when they give him the vaccines so being the good mommy that I am, I swooped in after the nurses were done and then took him out for his favorite food...sushi. Rhys loves Japanese foods...partly because Shannon and I enjoy it so much and partly because Ayumi cooks for him everyday. We went to Hana after the appointment which is so much fun...the girls there LOVE him. He plays with the waitresses and runs wild around the nice hardwood floors. (we go early so not to bother any other guests)
Rhys had a very big dinner: miso soup, rice, edemame, and salmon sashimi. Since his mouth is still a bit to small to fit a whole piece in his mouth, we have to dissect it and he eats the salmon first, avocado next and seaweed and rice last.
Here is mommy feeding me with her second pair of chopsticks b/c I had to steal the first.

We're back!!!
Much to discuss...been away from the blog for too long.
Rhys is now 1 year old, walking/running/crash tackling everything in sight
I've been tied up in my awesome job and Shannon has been quite active with Frisbee and getting my sorry butt out to run races.
I'll try and back fill the past 2 months but in the meantime, below are some pics from Rhys' first bday and Michael's visit to the States.
Hello people of the internet...it is me...Rhys, Mayor of all that I come in contact with...
Mommy loves me even though I get distracted easily.
Me and my grandad...he rocks!
I have to show daddy how to play the game right...me in the center of attention is the only way to win.
Nanny has 2 arms...one for me and one for my cute cousin Ava. This will be the only time during my life where I will not wiggle for freedom.

Happy bday to me...I got some rockin clothes from Aunt Hil, Uncle Jayson and Aunt Meredith. Aunt Sarah got me some great books to chew on.

Welcome to the Nudist pool....all nakie all of the time.

Awww aren't we a cute family?
I'm singing a song la la la...
My first birthday dinner; fucilli with tardelis and grilled veggies...yum!!!
This is my other special lady in my life, Ayumi. She has soooo much patience to put up with my antics during the day!
Poop time, someone get an air freshener
Since I don't get the function of bibs, mommy and daddy keep me in a diaper most days...no sense in dirtying nice clothes with my banana and puffies mash.

3+ meals between breakfast and lunch
Since anytime is a good time to eat... breakfast is really the first of many meals for the day. Here are some photos of Oma Sally learning how much I really can pack away.

We also went to lunch at ESPN Zone in Baltimore so I could try some more big people food. Chips/Fries are some of my favorites but I need one in each hand or it doesn't work.
Here is Uncle Nick hiding behind my napkin. I don't know why, but he's really funny.
While Uncle Nick was trying out for some rock band, I took the chance to have a quick sip of the moo juice.

Uncle Nick likes sitting beside me in the car when we go driving to find more food (even though I always have a bottle with me just in case it takes a while).

The proof is in the poop
To all you nay sayers out there...We took this last week when mom was out visiting. He's been using the potty every morning and then at least one other time each day. Now if we can only direct his crawling to the bathroom so we know the other times he needs to go. :)
